About Us

Bike Tulane is a group of students, staff, and faculty who, under the auspices of the Office of Environmental Affairs, are working to improve cycling on campus and in New Orleans.

Our major projects have included:

• Creating a Bicycle Map of New Orleans
  
  
• Conducting background research and drafting chapters for the for the Regional Planning Commission’s New Orleans Bicycle Master Plan.
  
  
• Achieving an update in the Louisiana Driver’s Manual to include an expanded bicycling section.
  
  
• Piloting a university bicycle safety education program and publishing a toolkit of our results, Higher Education: Bicycle Safety for Colleges and Universities. This work was funded by a grant to the Regional Planning Commission from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to help implement the National Strategies for Advancing Bicycle Safety.
